Rising Above Challenges Through Education: The Story of Nat Sreynich

March 26, 2026

Nat Sreynich, 18 years old, is a first-year student at Western University, Kampong Cham campus. She is the second daughter in a family of five siblings and comes from Kampong Cham province. Like many young students from rural areas, she has taken an important step away from home to pursue her higher education and build a better future for herself.

Currently, Sreynich lives in a rented house near the university with a friend, allowing her to stay close to campus and attend her classes more easily. However, her journey is not without challenges. Due to mobility difficulties, she requires assistance to travel to and from the university. Everyday activities that many take for granted can require additional time, effort, and support.

Despite these obstacles, Sreynich continues her studies with remarkable determination and resilience. She remains committed to her education and is motivated to achieve her goals, demonstrating that challenges do not have to limit one’s potential.

Her story reflects the broader importance of inclusive education and the need to create supportive learning environments for all students. Every student deserves equal access to education, regardless of their physical abilities or personal circumstances.

Through the GAIN Project, Western University is strengthening institutional support and promoting inclusive learning practices. The project aims to ensure that students with disabilities can access education, participate fully in academic life, and pursue their studies with dignity and confidence.

Sreynich’s journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support systems and opportunities, students can overcome barriers and continue moving forward toward their dreams.
